All Region 4 UAW Vets
Volunteers Welcome

To My Region
4 UAW Vets Family
Operation
"Stars &
Stripes"
began their
7th year of support for our Troops in harm's way on March 7th.
We have
sent out 5,697 care packages with a cost of over $125,000.00 in postage.
Due to
the terrible economy it has hit our organization pretty hard over the last
couple of months.
We are
currently down to our last $1500.00 for postage money and that will
be gone by the end of April.
With postage
going up, it costs us even more to get our care packages out.
I am asking
all of you to send our web site www.operationstars.com
out once again to every one you
know to
help bring in more support. If you are able to make a donation it is greatly
appreciated.
This is
one thing I do not like to do, but when it comes to our Troops and Veterans
this is very near
& dear
to my heart. A care package sent out touches more than just the Airman,
Marine, Solider, Sailor
or Coast
Guard it reaches. They all share the goodies & toiletries sent.
I was thinking about this the other
day after
a good friend mentioned it to me a couple of months ago. Let's say everyone
in our town gave
$1.00 per
person in their household! We would be set with postage money for a long
time.
We waste
more than that on a cup of coffee.
Please
think about "Postage for Patriots" and do what you can.
We will
never be able to thank these brave
men &
women enough for what they are doing for us.
Thank
you so much for your support in the past.
In Friendship
& Support,
Meredith
Kelly, Chairwoman

1st Annual UAW Day National Salute to Hospitalized
Veterans
Region 1A Jim Wallace was a Volunteer at this
event.
Region 4 Veterans are in this
picture-Not all of them, because they were out and about
on the Poker run and visiting
the local taverns in New Glarus. Iowa had a bus of UAW Vets come
down friday nite for a few hours
to party, so they were not in this picture because they all went back
on Friday nite. It was a fun
filled wknd and lots of hospitality Thursday nite-Saturday nite.
Hope to see many more Region
4 UAW Vets for the 24th annual getaway January 14-17, 2010.....

The
Mesothelioma Cancer Center is committed to providing the latest, up-to-date
information
to
our visitors in the hopes of spreading awareness about the dangers of asbestos
cancer.
According
to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs,
there
are currently 25 million living individuals
who
have served in the United States' armed forces. Hundreds of thousands,
if not millions of these living
veterans
were exposed to toxic asbestos-containing materials during military service.
Asbestos.com
offers a one-stop resource on all asbestos issues ranging from occupational
exposure,
to treatment options after receiving a mesothelioma
prognosis.

VA Opening New Outpatient Clinics:
VA announced this week that
they will be opening 31 new outpatient clinics in 16 states.
With 153 hospitals and about

62 million
outpatient visits. The community-based
outpatient clinics, or CBOCs, will become operational by late 2010, with
some
opening in 2009. The proposed
locations and projected openings are:
• Illinois – Carbondale (2009),
Harrisburg (2010), Sterling (2010)
• Iowa -- Decorah (2010)
• Minnesota – Southern central
border (2010), Southwest metro area
(exact locations to be determined,
2010)
